Funding through an education voucher

The process begins with a detailed consultation tailored to you personally with the contacts at W.S. TrainingCenter. This introduces the occupation, including career opportunities in the labour market, prospects for advancement and continuing education after qualification, and the professional and physical requirements.

Ideally, you will have emailed your CV to the contacts beforehand so that your previous vocational education and experience can be taken into account. Of course, you can also bring a printed CV to the consultation.

Several times a year, we offer a trial week in material testing and materials engineering. The week combines theoretical presentations on various testing techniques with numerous practical group exercises.

You will also receive valuable first-hand information from our instructors about the occupation and its applications. This is an opportunity to get a taste of the job, gain initial practical experience and learn about the physical and intellectual requirements.

Our aptitude test, which takes approximately one hour, is a compulsory requirement for joining a qualification or vocational retraining programme with us. It ensures that all participants start with the same level of mathematical, language and technical knowledge and have the same opportunity to follow the lessons.

But do not worry: the test covers only basic school knowledge in these areas. During the consultation, we also point you towards learning aids and practice materials.

Once you have successfully completed the first three steps, you are well prepared for your meeting with your adviser at the Employment Agency or Jobcenter. You have shown interest, researched the occupation and labour market opportunities in detail, and successfully completed the trial week and aptitude test. In the decisive meeting, you now need to make a convincing case for your future career plans.

The material testing specialist qualification programmes (systems technology and metals technology) have recurring start dates every 1–2 months. Vocational retraining as a materials testing technician (IHK) starts twice a year, in April and October.
